LIMBO PLANNING MEETING

We will have the first Limbo planning meeting of the year this Sunday afternoon starting at 2p at Mike Grover's house in Carrollton.  We will be setting the styles for this year's competition and determining the committee.  If you are interested in helping out with Limbo, come on out to Mike's at 2p Sunday.  Address is:

Lunar & Cactus Drop Off Times Confirmed

Times for dropping off your Lunar Rendezbrew and Cactus Challenge entries at Bluebonnet this weekend have been confirmed!

 

Drop off for the Lunar will be at 10am (sharp) on Sat in the lobby of the DFW Airport Sheraton.

 

The Cactus Challenge will have folks in the lobby of the DFW Sheraton on Friday 3/24 from 4p - 430p and on Saturday 3/25 from 9a - 930a.

Bluebonnet Judging - continues

40 flights of 156 have been judged. We still have many flights to judge.

Thanks to all the judges that came out last weekend!


Bluebonnet judging continues this Friday evening at Dallas Makerspace in Carrollton.  There will be one flight on Friday evening starting at 6:30 PM. Plan on Friday evening being a big beer flight or something special.

Judging will continue all day Saturday beginning at 9am and ending at 5pm at Makerspace.

There will be no judging on Sunday this week.

Bluebonnet Drop Off Deadline - TODAY!

Today at 6pm is the drop off deadline for Bluebonnet entries at Homebrew Headquarters and Dallas Homebrew.

This Saturday 2/4 will be check in at Dallas Makerspace (1825 Monetary Ln #104, Carrollton, TX 75006). We will start setting up at 8am and checking in at 9am but come by any time if you can't be there first thing in the morning. The more people that show up, the quicker we will be finished! Hope to see you there!

National Homebrew Competition

Registration for the National Homebrew Competition will be open from 1/30 - 2/5. A link to the competition site is listed below if you are interested in more info and sending in some entries.  The club will host a packing party (date TBD) and pay for shipping any club member's entries to the first round locations.

The Bluebonnet website is up and running!  Links are listed below for the main page and entries along with the People’s Choice info page and entry info.  You will also find links for reserving rooms and getting a TABC certification if you are planning to serve for the Big Thirsty!

IMPORTANT – The site for registering entries is open for testing purposes only!  Profiles can be created since this is a new system for 2017 however any entries added will be deleted before the site goes live on Sunday 1/15.   

 

Bluebonnet Brewoff Offering Intro to Judging Classes

This is from James Lallande, the director of this year's Bluebonnet Brewoff. The BBO is giving classes at the Dallas Makerspace. Details below: Intro to Beer Judging We will have 3 introduction to beer judging classes at the Dallas Makerspace. This course is designed to give a basic understanding of judging beer and is a great opportunity to learn a little about judging in order to be prepared for judging Bluebonnet if you have never judged before. Pick up your Cluster hops

If you have requested Cluster hops to use in the Bluebonnet specialty category in 2017, the hops will be available for pick up at the brew club meeting next Tuesday night at Bitter Sisters brewery in Addison.  If you cannot make it to the meeting, please send an email to firstVP@nthba.org and we can arrange a time for you to pick up the hops.  

We also have a limited amount of hops left for club members to claim.  If interested, please email me (firstVP@nthba.org) and let me know how many ounces you would like (up to 8oz).
