• The COC is only open to current NTHBA members.
  • No more than two entries per person.
  • No more than one entry per sub-category.
  • Two bottles per entry are requred.
  • Entries should be in a plain green or brown 12oz. bottle with all labels removed.  Any markings or lettering on the cap must be blacked out.
  • A paper entry label must be attached with a rubber-band with your name, the category and sub-category of your beer.  The BJCP label is prefered: Print Bottle Labels Here
  • Points are accumulated through-out the year and are awarded as follows: 1st - 3 points, 2nd - 2 points, 3rd - 1 point
  • The entrant with the highest accumulated point total at the end of the year will be awarded the Brewer Royale.

COC Judges Needed

I am looking for 3 more people to help with judging the cider and mead entries for the November club competition. Judging will take place at my apartment in N Dallas on Thursday (11/17) at 630p. Nov COC Judging

We will be judging the cider and mead entries for the November club competition this Thursday (11/17) evening at my apartment in north Dallas.  We currently have 12 entries and would like to have 2 teams of judges so we are looking for 2 – 3 more people to help out.  If you are available on Thursday and would like to help, please email firstVP@nthba.org.  I will confirm a start time once we have enough volunteers but ideally we will get started around 630pm. 



COC Entries & Meeting Tonight

Reminder that tonight is the club meeting at Lakewood Brewing in Garland!  I will be collecting cider and mead entries for the November COC.  Please do not bring your entries inside the brewery as this is a violation of TABC rules.  I will collect them from everyone after the meeting. 

The drop off deadline for COC entries is this Friday Nov 11th at Homebrew Headquarters and Dallas Homebrew. 

We will also be holding elections for 2017 officers so come on out and vote!




Arktoberfest Challenge Homebrew Competition

As mentioned at the club meeting last night, the Arktoberfest Challenge is coming up next week.  Registration ends this Friday 10/14 and all entries must be received at one of the addresses listed on the website by 10/20.  The fee for the competition is $25 for up to 3 entries.  In other words, if you only send 1 or 2 entries, the fee is still $25 to enter.  Additional entries beyond 3 are $10 each. 

COC Entries - Drop Off Deadline Today!

Today is the drop off deadline at Dallas Homebrew and Homebrew Headquarters for Sept COC entries. Both stores close at 6pm today so please drop off your entries before then.

We will also be collecting entries at the club meeting next Tuesday night at the Lake Flying Saucer. Social will start at 630p and meeting at 7pm. Please do not bring your entries into the Saucer as this is a violation of TABC rules. I will collect the entries after the meeting.



Sept COC Entries - THIS WEEK!

I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend! Just a quick reminder that this Friday 9/9 is the drop off deadline at Homebrew Headquarters and Dallas Homebrew for entries in the September club competition. This month's COC includes categories Marzen (6A) and Vienna (7A) lagers. The final deadline for entries will be at the club meeting next Tuesday 9/13 at the Lake Flying Saucer.

We have received a few entries for the June Club Competition. The deadline for entries is this Wednesday at the club meeting at Deep Ellum Brewery. Please do not bring your entries into the brewery as this is a violation of TABC rules. See you on Wednesday!

June COC Deadline

Just a reminder that this Friday 6/10 is the drop off deadline for June COC entries at Homebrew Headquarters and Dallas Home Brew! This month's COC includes all entries for the Limbo Challenge. We will also be accepting entries at the club meeting next Wednesday 6/15 at Deep Ellum Brewing!


Entries for the September club competition (Fruit, Wild, & Sour beers - categories 23, 28, & 29) are still being accepted at Dallas Homebrew in Carrollton. I will be at Dallas Homebrew tomorrow evening from 5 - 6p for the Dixie Cup packing party. Drop off your entries before then and I will pick them up.

COC Dropoff Deadline TODAY!

Busy Week for Competitions!

Good morning, NTHBA!  This is a very busy week for competitions!  On Wed 6/14, I will be hosting a packing party at Dallas Homebrew in Carrollton for the Operation Fermentation competition in Austin.  I will be there by 5p with packing supplies.  Please arrive as close to 5p as possible so you have time to pack your entries before the store closes at 6p.  As always, the club will pay the shipping charges for sending your entries.  



We are in need of 2 judges for the April club only competition.  This month's COC includes beers from the Historical Beers category (27).  I would like to take care of judging either Wednesday or Friday of this week or Monday or Tuesday next week.  If you are available any of these nights, please email me at firstVP@nthba.org.  Thanks!

FREE MONEY - Club Competitions

One important detail I didn't mention about club competitions last night! Starting this year, first place in each competition will take home a $25 gift certificate for one of the local homebrew stores!

2017 Club Only Competition Schedule

This year's officers are in the process of setting the 2017 Club-Only Competition schedule. Since a new set of style guidelines was introduced in 2015, we would like your input on the styles you would like to see in next year's COC. The 2015 guidelines include some new categories and revisions to the favorites! Have you heard of a Piwo Grodziskie or Lichtenhainer? These are just 2 of the categories in the Historical Beer category (#27) along with Gose, Pre-Prohibition Lager, and Roggenbier to name a few of the more familiar styles.
