Spring Party – Saturday May 20th!

Greetings, NTHBA. Saturday, May 20th at 6PM will be the Spring Party hosted by yours truly. Our address is: 4100 Camino Dr. Plano 75074.

I plan on smoking some chicken, probably with a Tex-Mex flare, as well as my take on suadero tacos, also smoked. Suadero is its own cut of beef not readily available even in these parts, so brisket flats will be substituted. I might throw some other items on the smoker as well. Please bring an appetizer, side, or desert to share.

I have several beers on tap and the beer engine is making an appearance to serve my pub ale. My taplist can be found HERE. Of course, please bring our own personally brewed or commercial concoctions to share.

We do have a pool and aside from a current temperature of 84 degrees, is fully prepared to accept any brave souls into its cool waters. Although, the current forecast does call for only a high of 79.

If you have any questions, please shoot me an email at [email protected]. Looking forward to seeing those of you that can make it out on Saturday.

Cheers!
Smitty

Big Rig Brew Day, Sunday April 2nd

Sunday April 2nd, there will be a brew day happening on the Big Rig at Wayne Yandell’s shop. The Big Rig is a set of 55 gallon brew kettles on which can be brewed up to 48 gallons of wort. This may be one of the last brew days at Wayne’s shop as the property has been listed for sale. Now is the time to come out and see what all the fun is about. We will be brewing a Belgian Wit, Wayne will have the BBQ or grill going, there will be left over commercial beer from the Bluebonnet Festival on hand, and it is Wayne’s Birthday!

Bluebonnet Commercial Beer

One of the activities after Bluebonnet is returning kegs to all the breweries who donated beer for the Big Thirsty. The beer that is remaining in the kegs cannot be served by the brewery so will get dumped unless any homebrewers want these before they get returned. Marcus has several of kegs that will be returned later this week.

  • Hop And Sting – Red Velvet Cookie Ale, English Ale
  • Hop And Sting – Frigid Underworld, Espresso Imperial Stout
  • Toasty Bros -Earl The Orange Alien, Dessert Stout
  • Twin Peaks – Drop Dead Redhead, IPA

If you have any empty kegs and would like some of this beer, contact Marcus Burleson at 972-464-6496. He is in Carrollton.

Also, a few other commercial beers have been pulled off to kegs and will be on tap at the next Big Rig Brew. Stay tuned ….

Bluebonnet Homebrew Showcase Beer signup list for 3/18

A signup list has been create for NTHBA beers that will be on tap at the Bluebonnet Homebrew Showcase on Saturday night. If you have volunteered to bring a beer to put on our kegerator, please signup at the following link.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17HDj86uAcQZ79lMkYYIo4V0ybWY-y0LTZH6AAWMyBwo/edit?usp=sharing

NTHBA will have our 12 tap kegerator on site to serve homebrew from our members. Our goal is to have as many of our taps filled with high quality beers as possible. Your contribution does not need to be a full keg, partial or smaller (2.5 or 1.75 gallon) kegs are fine. Our kegerator is setup for ball lock kegs. Please indicate in the signup list what style keg you are bringing so we can accommodate if you have a keg that is not ball lock.

Thanks for all those that are contributing. If you have any questions, please contact me, Terry Olinger, at 214-310-2494.
