Calling all Homebrewers!

Saturday, November 2 at North Texas Homebrew Supply, the club and store will be hosting the AHA official Learn to Homebrew Day. Per the AHA website: “In 1999, Learn to Homebrew Day was established as the first Saturday in November by the American Homebrewers Association to promote the most rewarding and delicious activity of all time—homebrewing. Beer lovers worldwide are invited to brew, share their knowledge, and celebrate the hobby of homebrewing annually.”

If you’re a homebrewer, here’s where you play a role. First, we need some brewers to volunteer to brew. There is water and power at the store, as well as supplies. If you want to brew, please let me know ASAP via email at [email protected]. Secondly, please come out for a while or maybe longer and support the hobby of homebrewing. Bring samples of your home brew to share. Lunch will be provided.

The NTHBS address is 17811 Davenport Rd Suite 11, Dallas, TX 75252. Map HERE. We will get started around 9AM. Send me an email if you have any questions. [email protected]

Cheers!

Cap & Hare Big Brew Hog Roast This Saturday, Need Final Headcount

This is my last request to let me know if you will be attending the Big Brew/Hog Roast this Saturday. The NTHBA is pitching in on the Hog, they only request that you bring a side dish.

If you would like a share of the Kölsch wort also let me know. You can pay for your wort at the event when they know all the costs. You will need to provide your own yeast so you may want to work on your yeast now.

Details are in this post: Click me.

If you will be attending, I need you to send an email to me, [email protected] right away. Please include if you want a share of the Kölsch wort and what side you will bring to the event.

This looks to be a fun event. This is a great chance to hang out with another Brew Club in our area, a chance to see how they do things.

I am attending, you should too!

Cap & Hare Big Brew Hog Roast Saturday October 26th

The Cap & Hare Homebrew Club, our friends on the west side of the Metroplex, have invited the NTHBA to their Big Brew and Hog Roast event. Cap & Hare has the components to make a very large brew. They have these big brew events where they make wort in a huge mash tun and multiple kettles. It is similar to Wayne’s Big Rig system except bigger.

They are having a Big Brew on Saturday October 26th. The event will be at Mark McCurdy’s house in Grapevine, MAP. It is only 20 minutes from Carrollton. The Wort will be for a Kölsch. You can purchase shares of wort. You will just need to bring a container to take your wort home in.

To reserve your share of the Kölsch wort, use this google spreadsheet: Reserve Share.

Wait, that is not all! C&H is also doing a hog roast that Saturday as well. The NTHBA is picking up the cost for our members share of the pig roast. You still need to bring a side of some sort. To track the side dishes of what folks are bringing, please update this spreadsheet: Side Dishes.

This will be a great event for hanging out with the Cap & Hare folks, talking about and sharing some homebrew. If you are coming out, please email Jimmy at [email protected] so I can keep a list of folks that are going.
