Starting at 9AM THIS Saturday, Sep 23, Smitty will be hosting the September Brew Day. Smitty and Mike Grover are brewing a Rauchbier. Others are encouraged to brew as well.
We will provide lunch. College football will be on, and undoubtedly a cigar session will occur sometime in the afternoon. Please bring homebrew or commercial beer to share, including/especially your homebrews to be evaluated. If you have any questions, please reach out to Smitty at [email protected].
North Texas Homebrew Supply will be holding a beer off flavors class this coming Sunday, July 30th from 2-4 pm.
If you are not sure what some of the common off flavors, such as diacetyl, dms, oxidation etc, actually smell and taste like, this is a great class to take. If you just want to improve your own beer, or want to improve your judging (think Limbo judging!) quality, I highly recommend this course, having taken it 2 years ago.
Greetings, NTHBA. Saturday, May 20th at 6PM will be the Spring Party hosted by yours truly. Our address is: 4100 Camino Dr. Plano 75074.
I plan on smoking some chicken, probably with a Tex-Mex flare, as well as my take on suadero tacos, also smoked. Suadero is its own cut of beef not readily available even in these parts, so brisket flats will be substituted. I might throw some other items on the smoker as well. Please bring an appetizer, side, or desert to share.
I have several beers on tap and the beer engine is making an appearance to serve my pub ale. My taplist can be found HERE. Of course, please bring our own personally brewed or commercial concoctions to share.
We do have a pool and aside from a current temperature of 84 degrees, is fully prepared to accept any brave souls into its cool waters. Although, the current forecast does call for only a high of 79.
If you have any questions, please shoot me an email at [email protected]. Looking forward to seeing those of you that can make it out on Saturday.
Our regular schedule of club meeting on the second Tuesday collides with Valentines Day this year. Due to past low turnout at meetings on Feb 14th, and in the interest of keeping our spouses happy, we will move both the club meeting and officer meeting up 1 week. That will still keep the meeting on Tuesday night and free up Valentines Day for those with conflicts.
February meeting dates are now as follows.
Officer meeting, Tuesday January 31st, Bavarian Grill, Plano
Club meeting, Tuesday February 7th, North Texas Homebrew Supply
Reminder of the upcoming club brew day and AHA Learn to Homebrew Day to be held at North Texas Homebrew Supply. We currently have three brewers planning to brew on a variety of systems. Link to calendar info and address can be foundHERE.
Terry will be brewing a Czech Pils on the shop Brewzilla. (See recipe below)
Eric will be brewing a black IPA using a brew in a bag system,
