Happy Hippie has now a new schedule, which they will be OPEN for the public today with an Open Mic event in the main tap room.
We will be seated at the outdoor covered patio by the side entrance. With that said, dress appropriately.

The Bluebonnet Brew-Off is in desperate need of volunteers for the Bluebonnet Awards weekend this weekend. You can work as little as an hour and it all helps. Please sign up! You will find it is actually a lot of fun.
We will also need other clubs help when we host the Bluebonnet next time so let’s help out the Knights of the Brown Bottle this year!

Big Thirsty and the registration desk are looking for volunteers. There are multiple time slots for Friday and Saturday. All you have to do is fill in your name next to the time slot you would like to work. All shifts are an hour, but feel free to sign up for more than one shift. All materials and directions will be set-up for you.
To sign up to volunteer, open the attached spreadsheet and add your name and requested information. There are two tabs, please make sure you are signing up on the appropriate sheet – Registration Desk or Big Thirsty (see bottom of the sheet).
If you are signing up for the Big Thirsty, please either send a copy of your TABC certification to me or bring a hard copy with you to the event, thanks.

It is time to start planning for the 2024 Limbo Challenge. While we just finished with all of the Bluebonnet judging, it takes time to plan and prepare to ensure the Limbo competition runs smoothly. We will begin preliminary planning at our March officer meeting on 3/3. The contest dates have been set, the next thing is to review the categories to determine if any changes are wanted, and review other contest other parameters so we can update our website with the 2024 contest information. We want to complete this far enough ahead of entry dates so brewers can plan their brew days .

I did not touch on club parties throughout the year for the benefit of anyone new. Last year, we had 4 club parties throughout the year and we plan to continue with that, assuming we get volunteer hosts. Aside from the Winter Party mentioned above, they are presently TBD as follows:

In conclusion, we have a busy slate of activities coming up this year. As I stated in the January Newsletter, our success as a club with these events relies on member attendance. We understand everyone is very busy and the likelihood for most of attending every event isn’t possible. Please plan to attend as many as you can. Starting at 9AM THIS Saturday, Sep 23, Smitty will be hosting the September Brew Day. Smitty and Mike Grover are brewing a Rauchbier. Others are encouraged to brew as well.
We will provide lunch. College football will be on, and undoubtedly a cigar session will occur sometime in the afternoon. North Texas Homebrew Supply will be holding a beer off flavors class this coming Sunday, July 30th from 2-4 pm.
If you are not sure what some of the common off flavors, such as diacetyl, dms, oxidation etc, actually smell and taste like, this is a great class to take. If you just want to improve your own beer, or want to improve your judging (think Limbo judging!) quality, I highly recommend this course, having taken it 2 years ago.
