Re: Getting Screwed by the Bluebonnet

The rush of people entering competitions is taking the fun out of entering. I’d be interested in knowing if there are a limited number of folks taking most of the spots. I like the one hour limit to pay. For a hobby that people are saying is dead there sure seems to be a lot of people willing to pay...

Liquid Calcium Chloride

Just curious, who converts their solid Calcium Chloride to liquid? Jimmy has mentioned that he does. I read about it on the Bru'n Water here: https://www.brunwater.com/articles/a-better-way-to-store-and-use-calcium-chloride I just made a little over two liters of liquid CaCl with a pound of anhydrou...

Interesting use of German Ale yeast on a British beer. Let us know how it comes out.

Re: New White Labs Packaging...Again

That new packaging looks much easier to use than the current, though I liked the old PET tubes the best.

I have the immersion chiller as an ingredient, so I don't forget to run the pump and sanitize the system. Forgot before, maybe homebrew was involved. : :D

Re: What's your next Brew and what is different about it?

I'm redoing my Munich Dunkel from last fall today. Judges commented that it lacked malt aroma but the flavor was good. I'm adding 2 lbs. (9.8% of grist) of aromatic malt to this batch. My garage smells great right now and I'm only in the mash.

Re: What's your next Brew and what is different about it?

Blawrence can chime in on this, but he said in his article on wheat biers that banana comes from higher fermentation temperatures. I am fermenting a dunklesweiss at 65 and it has a bit of banana with more of a balance to the clove. I hope to send a bit of it to the club party that I'll miss due to h...

Re: Kill Limbo Ciders and Seltzers Medal Category

I also agree that seltzer and ciders need to be dropped from the Limbo. We need to look over all of the categories and see if anything else needs to be dropped or consolidated.

Re: 2022 Labor of Love

Those of us that have participated in these types of events know that that people's choice is a popularity contest or least beer flavored beer flavor contest. I do expect the official judging to be at an experienced judge or higher level. That said, I think I am done giving away 5-10 gallons of my o...

2022 Labor of Love

I just registered two beers for the Labor of Love at Craft and Growler. Is anyone else entering or planning on attending?

Re: Beersmith calculated Attenuation

I was not aware of this setting. I use the FG estimate as more of a guide as what to expect and have not really paid much attention to comparing my actual with estimated. My setting is to adjust for mash temperature. For comparison I looked at my last three brews. The FG was spot on for two with the...
