Re: Kill Limbo Ciders and Seltzers Medal Category
I too am in favor of dropping cider and seltzer. Seltzer more so than cider since cider and mead are part of BJCP. Seltzer seems to have run its course.

American IPA Recipe
I'm looking for a tried and true American IPA recipe for my next brew. Anyone care to share theirs or provide suggestions? I've done several hazy's, but it's time to get back to basics.

Re: Imperial Dark Lager
First off, I'm definitely no expert on these high ABV dark beers. If you have an hour though, there is a video from Baskerville Marcus at Weathered Souls where he covers imperial stouts and the Black is Beautiful beer they created. It goes into good detail about formulating recipes for this type of ...

Re: Saturday meetup suggestions
All of Jimmy's are good. Londoner seems hit and miss these days, but the new Mockinbird Station location might be better when it opens. I've added some distilleries too below. The mid-cities locations could involve clubs from over there like Cap & Hare or Horsemen Local: Tupps Bankhead(Rowlett) ...

Try watermelon Jolly Ranchers in your cream ale. Perhaps it will impart some nice flavor.

Re: Skittlebrau
This reminds me of the recent Brülosophy experiment where a guy used blue Powerade for his brewing water. Completely ridiculous of course, but at the same time thoroughly entertaining and interesting at the same time. Nice work!

Re: Beersmith calculated Attenuation
I have not used this but perhaps will. I've been pretty content just to fall close to the expected outcome, but would definitely like for it to be more predictable, especially at higher and lower mash temps. I looked at my last brew, which I mashed at 152. Without the box checked, it estimates atten...

Re: Cutting corners to make a well rounded beer
Regarding shorter mash times, I made a post about this and also the mash temp hydrometer. If you are interested in shorter mash times, I think one of these would help. Here's the link on mash times: https://youtu.be/3ZrrVRxPP4w

N/A Brewing
Enjoyed(yes, it was actually good!) a non-alcoholic homebrew recently and saw this from Clawhammer Supply where they share their process for making N/A beer.

I think I'll be holding my spent grains on a future brew and trying this.

Receiving Notifications
In the top right area, there is a "Notifications" link with the bell next to it. Click on that --> Settings to set up notifications. At least, that's what I understand is the process to get notified on posts.

Saison Dupont Brewery Tour
Pretty cool tour of Saison Dupont. Use closed captioning in the brewery portion to get any sense of what is being said. Kind of annoying. They let the ferm temp rise to 35C/95F for as long as it needs before slowly dropping the temp when it slows. They also lay their bottles vertical when conditioni...

Re: Cutting corners to make a well rounded beer
I've not tested any theories surrounding late editions/hop stands/whirlpooling/dry hopping other than what my experience has been. For a style of beer where hop aroma and flavor are necessary, I have found and evolved to whirlpooling between 140-160 and splitting dry hopping schedule between two cha...
