Is there a way to just show posts from say the last week, 2 weeks, month?

There are multiple options under Quick links in the upper left:
New
Unread
Unanswered
Active

You can also do an advanced search, the gear next the the search box in the upper right. You can select a time range in the search. But your have to put in a search term that must have at least 3 characters, so you cannot wildcard everything.

See if the Quick links options give you what you want.

I found a setting on the search function. I set the author name to zero characters for a search. So you can search all posts by putting a "*", the Asterisk wildcard character in the author name. Then set the "Limit Results to Previous" setting to one of the time frame options it has.

The search lets you display by Posts or Topics.

The idea is that we might be able to post a forum digest in the blog as a link.

Such as, last 7 days:
search.php?keywords=&terms=all&author=* ... mit=Search
