Let’s talk about Labor of Love. I’ll discuss the history below but to get started I will discuss this year’s (actually next month’s) Labor of Love.
There will be a Labor of Love Homebrew Competition and Festival in October this year. Labor of Love will be hosted at Autonomous Society (Dean Weaver’s place) in the Cedars this year.
Labor of Love’s website is at: https://lolcomp.org/ Look at the site for Competition and Festival information.

The competition is judged Best of Show style. There will be five Medal categories. The styles in the medal categories will be determined by the styles entered. There will be a Best of Show entry chosen from the Medal Category winners.
The Festival will run from Noon to 5pm on October 19. There will be an Eventbrite event to buy your tickets to the festival. Entering the competition, having your entries judged and pouring at least 2 gallons of your entries gets you free access to the festival.
The key in the above paragraph is to enter the competition, you must pour at least 2 gallons of each of your entries at the Festival. Its a celebration of your homebrew. You are welcome to pour more beers than you entered, in fact you are encouraged to pour more. There will be a peoples choice from all the beers poured at the festival.
I suggest the NTHBA members share pop up canopy space or adjacent spaces. We are the hosting Homebrew Club.
If you have any questions, contact Jimmy or one of the officers.
Now a bit of history about Labor of Love. LoL started back in 2012 or so as a Homebrew Exhibition at Deep Ellum Brewing Co. with NTHBA only beer. There was no contest initially.
The second year started the contest and all homebrew clubs, individuals and teams were invited. Melinda Beyer has one of the First place awards from the first contest. Is was a spray painted cardboard case box.
The last year was 2019. It had become a huge event with music. Sadly Covid ended LoL. But we are bringing it back!
