Bluebonnet Brew-Off Login on Saturday

The Bluebonnet Brew-Off Login is this Saturday, the 4th. Please come help if you can.

The process involves unpacking entries, putting stickers on the bottles and sorting the entries into boxes. Then an audit step and the boxes go home with the Site Hosts. It goes pretty fast but it takes a few people.

We have been asked to get some folks there early so we can be actively logging in entries by 9am. Several of us will be getting there at 8am.

Login is at: Peace Lutheran Church, 941 W Bedford Euless Rd, Hurst, TX 76053

It is a chance to hang out with members of other clubs in the area. Come join us!

And we have winners ……

Of the January COC (did you really think you won the lottery ?)

Congratulations to Marcio Fazzani with his Old Ale, Terry Olinger with a Ordinary Bitter and Mark Rendon with his English Porter.

Special thanks to Steve Eppelman and James Smith for judging and extra thanks to Smitty for allowing us to take over his place for few hours. Reminder you collect Brewer Royale points for being a COC judge.

You can see the full results over at https://coc.nthba.org and download your score sheets.

Thanks again to all who entered and can’t wait to see the entries for the March COC. Reregistration will open March 1st and close at 5pm March 14th (day of the club meeting).

Bluebonnet Brew-off Information

Hopefully, you have already registered your beers with the Bluebonnet as tables are filling fast.

If you are planning on attending the event, buy your tickets soon. Prices go after this week. VIP tickets are still available, but they will go fast. The pub crawl busses are also filling. Don’t Wait! https://bluebonnetbrewoff.org/

If you plan on volunteering to pour at either the Big Thirsty or at the Homebrew Showcase, you will need to have a TABC Sellers/Servers license. If you need to get a license, they take about two hours and there are several on-line training companies. Prices are generally around $8-$10. This link is to the TABC’s list of on-line training providers, shop around for the best deal: https://www.tabc.texas.gov/services/tabc-certification/tabc-certification-schools/ The Bluebonnet will reimburse your tuition.

Bluebonnet Judging Sites Needed

We need locations for Bluebonnet judging. We will have sessions on Friday evenings, Saturday mornings and Saturday afternoons starting on 2/10 through 3/4. If you can host one or more sessions, please email Mike and Walter at: [email protected]; [email protected]

Please let us know your name, address, dates and sessions you are able to host. Also, please include beer styles that you are unable to judge because you entered them in the Bluebonnet or just outright hate them.

Operation Fermentation Club Shipping

The club will pay for shipping, for our current club members, to the Operation Fermentation. We will ship from Eric Morgan’s new homebrew store, NTHBS. Eric will ship via UPS on Wednesday December 28. That means you need to have your entries boxed, prepared for shipping to Eric’s store by Tuesday December 27 at 5pm.

North Texas Homebrew Supply is located at:
17811 Davenport Rd.
Suite 11
Dallas, TX 75252
(214) 449-0243

NTHBS will be closed this Saturday the 24th. That means you can drop off you packed entries today, Thursday the 22nd, Friday the 23rd or next Tuesday the 27th.

The deadline for Operation Fermentation shipping is Wednesday January 4 so we are shipping the week before to leave time to deal with problems in shipping and hopefully not have your entries sit in UPS over the weekend.

Good luck with your entries in Operation Fermentation!

John and Jimmy
