Judging: We start judging on Friday evening, the 6th, at 6:30p. We need all our judges to help out. If you are not experienced, we still need you. We will pair you with an experienced judge who will teach you about beer judging. It is actually a lot of fun. We are using electronic scoresheets so you will need to bring a laptop or a tablet with a keyboard to enter your comments in the scoresheet. If you do not have a wifi capable device, no worries, I can print paper scoresheets for you.

Please go ahead and register yourself as a judge in the BCOEM system (https://limbocomp.org/bcoem). Either register yourself as a judge or update your account to say you are a judge. In that process, please select the sessions that you are available to judge. This will make my job easier when we assign you to a table to be judged.
There will be:

  • One session on Friday the 5th starting about 6:30pm
  • Two sessions on Saturday the 6th, 9am and 1pm
  • Two sessions on Sunday the 7th, 10am and 2pm

We will work on the next weekend depending on how much we get done in the first weekend.Right now all Tables are assigned to Friday the 5th. The tables will get assigned to other sessions when we see judge availability.
If you do not register as a judge beforehand, we can always assign you to a table when you arrive.

Please let me know if you have any issues or questions. You can email me at [email protected]
Thanks for your support,Jimmy Orkin and Eric Morgan

Thoughts from Homebrew Con (NHC) 2022

Homebrew Con was in Pittsburgh this year. I am writing this on Sunday morning after the event. Mike Grover and I came up on Sunday before the event. Matt Parulis came up on Wednesday.

The seminars were ok but did not have the normal advanced topics I would attend in the past. I heard the attendee count was about 1500. The Vendor area was about 25% the size as normal.

It seems that we are getting past Covid-19. Perhaps more people will attend in 2023 when Homebrew Con is in San Diego. San Diego is a great beer town and easy to spend a week visiting breweries and brewpubs.

We visited about 15 different breweries, brewpubs and bars. Always in search of good Craft Beer. We found lots of it.

Talk to Mike, Matt or me about Homebrew Con. You might be interested on going to a future event.
