Superbowl Meetup

For anyone interested, several of us will be meeting up at Autonomous Society Brewpub https://autonomousbrewpub.com/ on Sunday to watch the Super Bowl. Kick-off is at 5:30 so we will be arriving a bit before then. Dean Weaver is a long-time member of NTHBA and is currently serving seven of his house brewed beers. He has 24 taps and also serves wine, cider, mead and root beer for the non-beer drinkers. Bring your darts in case the game is a blowout.

Bluebonnet Judging Opportunities

Bluebonnet judging starts this Friday evening. We will need lots of help to get through our allocation of beers. We have two locations in Carrollton the first weekend. The next weekend we will add in a judge site at North Texas Homebrew Supply. Experience is not required. We will pair inexperienced judges with experienced and/or certified judges.

To judge you will need to register on the Bluebonnet registration page as a judge. If you entered beers into the competition, modify your account to mark yourself as a judge. You’ll then be able to see and select judging locations. It’s best to stay at one location on Saturdays to minimize travel. You will also need to bring a laptop since all scoring will be done using electronic scoresheets. Register as a judge here: https://bcoem.bluebonnetbrewoff.org/

Remember, that you cannot judge a category you entered.

Bluebonnet Brew-Off Login on Saturday

The Bluebonnet Brew-Off Login is this Saturday, the 4th. Please come help if you can.

The process involves unpacking entries, putting stickers on the bottles and sorting the entries into boxes. Then an audit step and the boxes go home with the Site Hosts. It goes pretty fast but it takes a few people.

We have been asked to get some folks there early so we can be actively logging in entries by 9am. Several of us will be getting there at 8am.

Login is at: Peace Lutheran Church, 941 W Bedford Euless Rd, Hurst, TX 76053

It is a chance to hang out with members of other clubs in the area. Come join us!

Officer meeting moved to Zoom on 1/31.

Due to the current winter storm warning which extends into Wednesday, we are moving the officer meeting from an in person event to a zoom call. The zoom link will be sent to the officers. If you are interested in attending, please contact me or one of the other officers and we can send you the link.

We are still looking for a minister of education. If you are interested in what that position entails, please contact me at [email protected], or any one of the other officers.

February 2023 Newsletter is Published

The February Newsletter is available here, Click Me.

The Officers Meeting and the Club Meeting move up one week for February to stay away from Valentines Day.

The Officers Meeting next Tuesday, January 31, is at the Bavarian Grill in Plano.

The Club Meeting the following Tuesday, February 7 is at North Texas Homebrew Supply where you can bring your homebrew.

And we have winners ……

Of the January COC (did you really think you won the lottery ?)

Congratulations to Marcio Fazzani with his Old Ale, Terry Olinger with a Ordinary Bitter and Mark Rendon with his English Porter.

Special thanks to Steve Eppelman and James Smith for judging and extra thanks to Smitty for allowing us to take over his place for few hours. Reminder you collect Brewer Royale points for being a COC judge.

You can see the full results over at https://coc.nthba.org and download your score sheets.

Thanks again to all who entered and can’t wait to see the entries for the March COC. Reregistration will open March 1st and close at 5pm March 14th (day of the club meeting).

February Meeting Move due to Valentines Day

Our regular schedule of club meeting on the second Tuesday collides with Valentines Day this year. Due to past low turnout at meetings on Feb 14th, and in the interest of keeping our spouses happy, we will move both the club meeting and officer meeting up 1 week. That will still keep the meeting on Tuesday night and free up Valentines Day for those with conflicts.

February meeting dates are now as follows.

  • Officer meeting, Tuesday January 31st, Bavarian Grill, Plano
  • Club meeting, Tuesday February 7th, North Texas Homebrew Supply
