November Brew Day at NTHBS

Hello everyone, November brew day will be at North Texas Homebrew Supply and we are looking for people that would like to brew that day. Please let me know if you will be brewing on Nov 4.

There will be a Brewzilla system available if you want to use or you can bring your own equipment.

Someone asked a question during our club meeting this past Tuesday if we had selected a recipe, and coincidently I received an email from AHA with a suggested recipe, in case anyone would like to try

SMaSH Sensory Blonde Ale – SMASH meaning Single Malt Single Hop!

Ingredients:

  • Malts
  • 2 lb. (907 g) base malt of your choice
  • Hops
  • 0.15 oz. (4 g) Cluster, 7.8% a.a. @ 60 min
  • Yeast
  • 1/2 sachet (5.5 g) Fermentis SafAle US-05

Specifications:

Yield: 1 US gal (4 L)

Original Gravity: 1.046

Final Gravity: 1.010

ABV: 4.7%

IBU: 25

Efficiency: 70%

Directions:

Mash at 152°F (67°C) for 60 minutes. Use the same base malt in each batch, but use different hops, specialty malts, or different yeasts. Use 1.2 lb. of dry malt extract in place of base malt for an all-extract version.

Cheers, Marcio

  1. It would be interesting if several folks coordinated their brews to be the same malt and varied the hops. Then when all the brews were packaged, bring their beers together somewhere and taste the differences.
