Limbo – Judging

Hello everyone, Happy Friday

This is a reminder that we will start judging the Limbo entries tonight, and continue on Saturday and Sunday.

Judge Location: 2008 Glen Meadow Ct, Richardson, TX, 75081

Dates / Times

Friday, 8/4 – 7PM

Saturday 8/5 – 9AM and 1PM

Sunday 8/6 – 11AM and 1PM

We still need judges, so if you are willing and available to judge this weekend, please just show up even if you have not registered so our Limbo Data Guy will take care of that!!

Limbo Challenge Registration Ending and Login

I am writing the Blog post for Bill Lawrence so I will attempt to pontificate in the style of Bill.

Limbo registration, entry editing and printing will close at 11:55pm this Friday. Finalize your entries and print your paperwork before entry closes.

Entry Login: Login will be at North Texas Homebrew Supply, 17811 Davenport Rd Suite 11, Dallas, TX 75252, on Saturday the 29th at 5pm. You are welcome to bring your entries to login no later than 6pm. No experience needed. We could use some tables to if you have a 6 foot fold up table, we could use it during login.

We need judges. Judging starts on Friday August 4th. Marcio has been talking to folks about judging. We currently have 15 judges in the BCOEM system. That is a good start but we can always use a few more judges. If you have not signed up to judge, please go to: https://limbocomp.org/bcoem/index.php?section=register&go=judge and register yourself. If you already have a login from entering, go to Edit Account Info and set your self as a judge and enter your availability.

Drum roll please ………………..

Last night Harry Anderson, Jason Garland, David Bierschenk and Terry Olinger judged nine very good beers that spanned nine different styles and after spirted discussions the gold went to Doug Hicks with his Berliner Weisse, the sliver went to Rob Edger with his Red IPA, and a bronze was awarded to Mark Rendon for his American Lager.

Reminder, the July Club Only Competition (COC) registration closes this Tuesday, July 11th at 5pm and your entries of 2 bottles need to be turned in at the club meeting at North Texas Home Brew Supply this Tuesday evening. If you can’t make the meeting, please reach out to me and we can make other arrangements.

Limbo Challenge is Filling Up

The Limbo Challenge is filling up fast. There are 234 entries out of a maximum of 300.

Three Medal Categories are already full.

Register and pay for your entries now if you are going to enter.

July COC Registration is Open

This is a friendly reminder that the registration period for the July COC is open now. You can register at this site: https://coc.nthba.org.

Registration closed at 5:00pm on the 11th, the day of the club meeting at North Texas Homebrew Supply. Entries are due at the club meeting unless prior arrangements are made with John.

Are Jimmy Orkin in first place with a Kellerbier appropriately name Mark Rendon as second place goes to the real Mark Rendon with his Pre-Prohibition Porter and third place was awarded to James “Smitty” Smith with this Pale Ale.

Bluebonnet Homebrew Showcase Beer signup list for 3/18

A signup list has been create for NTHBA beers that will be on tap at the Bluebonnet Homebrew Showcase on Saturday night. If you have volunteered to bring a beer to put on our kegerator, please signup at the following link.

NTHBA will have our 12 tap kegerator on site to serve homebrew from our members. Our goal is to have as many of our taps filled with high quality beers as possible. Your contribution does not need to be a full keg, partial or smaller (2.5 or 1.75 gallon) kegs are fine. Our kegerator is setup for ball lock kegs. Please indicate in the signup list what style keg you are bringing so we can accommodate if you have a keg that is not ball lock.
